Each Puzzle-Piece is a Piece of a Bigger Picture…

One of the greatest joys in dealing with businesses and business people is watching them develop the understanding, knowledge and then the sheer joy of when a piece of the business puzzle works for them.

We have discovered that there are seven pillars of business success that all businesses need to have operating well in every aspect of their business.

The biggest challenge is that every business that we have interviewed is very good at only one (maybe two), and that is usually the physical “how to” of their business… what they actually DO to create revenue.

Which leaves a whole raft of critical information that businesses are unaware of or have ignored, which are certainly responsible for their lack of success in their business growth in this or any market.

As business people develop new skills and start to become aware what it takes to actually become a real business it is gratifying to see that they are prepared to make the effort and take the time to take their businesses to the next level.

One of BME’s greatest strengths is taking a business through each and every one of these steps to help them create the success that they are looking for.

Right now, I know what you’re thinking… “Your thinking what are these seven pillars of business success?”

Here they are –

And we are going to explore these very shortly in a short series of blogs.

REMEMBER, all businesses needs to be proficient in each of these pillars.

So if you want to succeed, particularly in this marketplace I really hope that you choose to take these on board.

If you know what some of these pillars are, please leave a comment below… we are about sharing and enjoying the benefits that this knowledge can bring and we we can all contribute to important discussions.

Why Is Business Networking Confusing?

Business networking, like social media means so many different things to so many different people and as a consequence there is a lot of confusion in the marketplace about what it is, what it is used for, and how effective it can be.

I can understand when people use the term “networking”, and put a great deal of emphasis on coffee catch ups, social networking, getting together for drinks etc., but when you confuse this with “Business Networking” then it can create a problem because expectations can be very different.

In the last few months I have had the privilege of engaging with 273 people and asking them all a very simple question.

That question was, “What is your understanding of business networking?”

Interestingly, there is no wrong answer to this question, however, in my opinion, only two people actually nailed the most appropriate answer to the question.

Many people said it was to make connections, to make sales, to build relationships, to build my database and so on… each of these are valuable perceptions.

As I stated, there is no wrong answer!

Two people on the other hand categorically stated that business networking was a system.

A system that is not just valuable in business but needs to be used by everyone, in everyday life, in every situation where we connect and communicate with others. In fact, everything we do with other people is networking.

Most people don’t actually understand the importance of “networking” in their life, and they are never taught the fundamentals of developing an effective networking system.

The system has a number of components, the first of which is actually an understanding WHY we network.
